Homemade Pita Bread


  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 3 +1 cups of flour
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of dry yeast
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Black seed

Knead 3 cups of flour, milk, water, yeast, sugar and salt together. Put the wax paper in the tray, sprinkle on the flour. When the dough is ready, let it rise for about an hour. Pour 1 cup flour little by little and knead the dough again. Take two parts. Put into wax papered tray by making the round shape. You can make the round shape by pressing with your hand gently or with rolling pin. Make square shaped pitas with knife. Let rise for about an hour. Heat the oven to 250 degrees. Apply on egg yolk, and bring out scratches a little more with knife, and sprinkle black seed. Put the tray in the oven, and fifteen minutes later, pita bread will be ready. Remove the tray from the oven, and cover with a clean cloth on top, thus, pita will be softened without losing its crispiness.
